news with the price reaction
SOL follows bitcoin with about 1.25 times more force. So next to each story is SOL's own move after 15 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours and 24 hours, that is, what is left after the market is taken out. A reaction of more than 1 percentage point counts as notable, and a spike is when the own move in an hour went past the threshold.
An example from the first days. On October 29, 2026, four major outlets wrote that Polygon connected Solana to its payment system. SOL's own move after 24 hours was plus 0.41 percentage points, within the usual noise. A loud headline is not yet a price move.
Solana: summary and history
Solana has the most official news of all the bot's coins: network software releases, protocol proposals, network status, developer blogs. The bot follows them directly and measures the SOL price reaction without the market. Every morning yesterday's recap appears here.

Solana crypto: Solana statistics and analysis
Most of Solana's technical events pass without a price reaction – that is normal. The bot's statistics show what still coincides with SOL moves: network failures and halts (Solana has a long history of them), big upgrades like Alpenglow, activated on October 21, 2026, votes on coin issuance, unlocks of FTX coins and money flows into SOL funds. On November 15–17, 2026, Breakpoint takes place in London – the main conference of the ecosystem, usually with many announcements.
Where the bot gets Solana data
Solana has 13 sources of its own – more than any other coin in the bot: the official site and the Anza team blog, the network status page, Agave and Firedancer software releases, protocol proposals (SIMD), the Solana YouTube channel, the Helius blog and six accounts on X, including founders Anatoly Yakovenko and Raj Gokal and Solana Foundation president Lily Liu. On top – 25 shared crypto sources.
Solana has its own folder in the Telegram bot @invest_prs_bot. The result of the past day is on the What happened to Solana in 24 hours page.
What is Solana crypto
Solana is a blockchain for apps: coin swaps, loans, payments, games and meme tokens. SOL is the coin of this network. It pays the fees, it is "frozen" in staking to keep the network running, and the whole economy of the ecosystem rests on it.
What Solana is best known for is speed and low fees. The network processes thousands of user transactions per second: by a sample on October 29, 2026 – about 2,139. Since launch the network has processed 564 billion transactions.
On October 29, 2026, SOL cost $101.82, the market cap was $60 billion, seventh place in the world, 2.19% of the whole crypto market. The all-time high is $293.31 on January 19, 2025, and the price is 65% lower. Over the year – minus 48%.
Who is behind Solana
The network was launched in Mainnet Beta mode on March 16, 2020. The developer is Solana Labs, the founders are Anatoly Yakovenko and Raj Gokal. The ecosystem and coin delegation are managed by the Solana Foundation, its president is Lily Liu. The main network program (the Agave client) is made by the Anza team, the alternative client Firedancer by Jump Crypto.
Yakovenko, Gokal and Liu are among the X accounts the bot follows. In total Solana has 13 sources of its own: the official site, the Anza blog, network status, Agave and Firedancer releases, protocol proposals (SIMD), YouTube, the Helius blog and six accounts on X.
How Solana raised money
- 2019 – Series A round, about $20 million, led by Multicoin Capital.
- March 2020 – CoinList auction: 8 million SOL at $0.22, sold out in less than 6 hours.
- June 9, 2021 – a private token sale for $314,159,265 (the number "pi"), led by Andreessen Horowitz and Polychain Capital.
For comparison: $0.22 at the 2020 auction and $101.82 at the end of October 2026.
SOL price history
According to Binance (the SOL to dollar pair has traded there since August 2020):
| Year | High | Low | Close | For the year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2020 (from Aug) | $4.95 | $1.03 | $1.51 | −47% |
| 2021 | $259.90 | $1.50 | $169.99 | +11,167% |
| 2022 | $179.53 | $8.00 | $9.97 | −94% |
| 2023 | $126.36 | $9.69 | $101.72 | +920% |
| 2024 | $264.39 | $79.00 | $189.31 | +86% |
| 2025 | $295.83 | $95.26 | $124.65 | −34% |
| 2026 (as of Oct 29) | $148.74 | $60.13 | $101.91 | −18% |
The hardest episode was 2022. In November the FTX exchange collapsed, along with the linked Alameda Research – among the largest SOL holders. By December 29, 2022, the price fell to $8, minus 94% for the year. A year later SOL had grown 10 times.
How the Solana network works
Solana runs on Proof of Stake: the network is held by validators – computers of independent operators that check transactions. The more coins a validator has in staking, the greater its weight. There is no mining.
On October 21, 2026, Alpenglow was turned on in the main network – the biggest technical upgrade in Solana's history. Its first phase, Votor, cuts the time of final transaction confirmation from about 12.8 seconds to a target of about 150 milliseconds. This is a target: it still has to be proven under the full load of the main network. The second phase, Rotor, has no date.
The number of validators is falling: about 958 in October 2025, 664 active on October 29, 2026, minus 30% over the year. By calculation, stopping the network would take a collusion of the 18 largest validators – this value stays at 17–18.
Network halts
Solana has a history of failures, and it is worth knowing about. According to the media: on September 14, 2021, the network was down for about 17 hours, in 2022 there were several halts, in February 2023 – about 20 hours. The last officially recognized halt was on February 6, 2024, about 5 hours. News of network failures is one of the event types the bot watches especially closely: the network status page is its official source.
Network programs: Agave and Firedancer
Solana validators run different programs – network clients. The main one is Agave from the Anza team, and most of the stake runs on its Jito-Solana version. The alternative is Firedancer from Jump Crypto: by various estimates, full Firedancer has about 14% of the stake, and the Frankendancer hybrid about 26%. Several independent clients reduce the risk that one bug in the code stops the whole network. During the switch to Alpenglow, Firedancer was temporarily not supported, and validators moved to Agave and compatible versions 4.3.2.
Votes: how Solana changes its rules
Changes to the Solana protocol are proposed in SIMD documents, and important decisions are made by a validator vote. A few examples that coincided with the coin's news background:
- May 2024 – SIMD-0096, about 77% "for": priority fees go to validators instead of being burned. Turned on in February 2025.
- March 2025 – SIMD-0228 rejected: coin issuance depending on the staking share.
- August 28, 2026 – a faster inflation cut was accepted (67.0% "for" with a two-thirds threshold), and a proposal on resource fees was rejected (53.9% "for").
Protocol proposals are one of the bot's official sources for Solana. Close votes, like in August 2026, are a typical reason for news.
Tokenomics: how much SOL there is and where new coins come from
SOL has no maximum supply: the coin is inflationary. As of October 29, 2026, 636.6 million SOL have been issued, 590 million are in circulation (92.7%).
- Inflation – 3.58% a year. It started at 8%, falls by 15% every year, and the final target is 1.5%. That is about 22.8 million new SOL a year, roughly $2.3 billion at the end-of-October price.
- Faster cut. On August 28, 2026, a vote accepted speeding up the inflation cut from 15 to 30% a year (67.0% "for" with a two-thirds threshold). It is not yet on in the network, there is no date.
- Fees. Half of the base fee is burned, half goes to the validator; since February 2025 priority fees go fully to validators. Burning is orders of magnitude smaller than issuance, so overall the number of coins grows.
SOL staking
Staking is when coins are "frozen" in the network for a reward, like a deposit. As of October 29, 2026, 436.8 million SOL are in staking – 68.6% of all coins. The gross yield in the third quarter of 2026 was about 6% a year. After inflation the real gain is smaller, about 2.4%. Those who do not stake lose about 3.6% of their share a year.
How much Solana is really used
| Metric | Value | Rank among networks |
|---|---|---|
| Money in apps (TVL) | $5.68 billion | #4 |
| Stablecoins on the network | $15.33 billion | #3 |
| Swap (DEX) volume for the year | $1.03 trillion | |
| App fees for 30 days | $416.8 million |
DefiLlama data as of 29.10.2026. TVL is half of its peak – $13.19 billion on September 14, 2025. Most fees now come from meme token platforms – PumpSwap and pump.fun. This is a living but fragile source of income: it rests on the mood of speculators.
Who holds SOL
- Exchange-traded funds in the US – $1.56 billion in assets as of October 28, 2026. The first spot fund with staking, Bitwise BSOL, launched on October 28, 2025. In the last days of October 2026 there was an outflow, about $24.8 million on October 27–28.
- Public companies – more than 17 million SOL together. The largest is Forward Industries, 7–8.6 million SOL according to different trackers.
- FTX coins. In April 2024 the exchange's bankruptcy estate sold 25–30 million SOL to the Galaxy and Pantera funds at $64 with a 4-year lock. They unlock monthly until 2028.
What coincides with SOL moves
The main factor is bitcoin. SOL's correlation with BTC is 0.83–0.87, beta is about 1.25: if bitcoin fell by 2%, SOL without its own news moves about minus 2.5% on average. That is why the service counts SOL's own move with bitcoin taken out.
Besides the market, these coincided with SOL moves: fund flows, news of liquidations (like on June 6, 2026, the low of the year – $60.13), big network upgrades, votes on tokenomics and the US market structure law. Timing alone does not prove cause: we write "coincided with the news".

- Fewer validators: minus 30% over the year.
- New consensus: Alpenglow has worked since October 21, 2026.
- History of halts in 2021–2024.
- Income from meme tokens: a large part of the ecosystem's fees.
